Alongside layered meat from the Dutch oven, shashlik is another classic that you can prepare in the casserole and make lots of hungry guests happy at the same time! Here we present a recipe created by the Sauerland BBCrew, which you can now easily recreate.
Preparation with briquettes
Depending on the size, you should place 17-19 briquettes under the Dutch Oven for browning, then place half of the briquettes on top with the lid closed.
Preparation
1
Firstly, wash the peppers and cut them into strips. Peel the onions and roughly dice them.
2
Then cut the bacon into thin strips and season the pork neck with BBQ rub.
3
Now add clarified butter to the Dutch oven and fry the pork neck on all sides. Then remove the roast from the Dutch oven.
4
Fry the bacon and onions until translucent and add the pepper strips. Let everything cook for about 5 minutes.
5
Now add the chopped tomatoes, apple juice and shashlik sauce and place the roast on top of the sautéed vegetables.
6
Place the lid on the Dutch oven and leave everything to roast for about 2 hours.
7
Remove the roast and cut it into slices. When serving, drizzle the shashlik roast from the Dutch oven with the sauce and sprinkle some fried onions on top.
You can serve the shish kebab from the Dutch oven with baguette or bread as you wish.
